In Naxi Township, Mangkang County, Qamdo City, China's Xizang, salt fields that have been in existence for over 1,000 years are built along the mountains on both sides of the Lancang River. The locals still preserve the ancient method of manually evaporating salt, where villagers pour the brine extracted into the salt fields, and through sun exposure and air drying, the salt crystallizes.
